LITTLE T’S PARTY: WHAT’S NOT TO LIKE?

Posted by southoftherivermum on September 12th, 2011. Filed under: Birthday Cakes, Birthday Parties.

On the way to school this morning Little T said to me, “mummy, I didn’t really like my party.”  I felt crushed.  So much love goes into planning and making their birthdays special – what did I do wrong?

He’s mad for Toy Story so when I found a Toy Story entertainer I thought I was on to a winner.   We did have a lot of children as it’s the first party of the school year so I thought we had to invite his whole class.  As he doesn’t know many of them I also invited his cousins and 4 of his close friends.  No-one said they couldn’t make it so we were 30 kids which is too many but what can you do?

I loved making his Sheriff Woody cake and I think Little T was pleased with it.

Here are some of the photos from the day.

It’s difficult when you have a birthday at the beginning of September as you have the choice of inviting your existing friends or inviting the new class which you don’t know at the moment but they will be your friends in a month of two’s time.

When 8yo went into nursery she also had a birthday quite early in the year and I invited her old friends rather than the new class and I remember regretting that.   Maybe you just can’t win!  I think it was just a bit overwhelming for him but I hope that when he went into nursery today that all the children know who is he is and he will feel a little happier.

I’m going to collect him shortly as he finishes at 11.45 today and we are going to go on an outing together before we go and collect the girls later today.  Hopefully I’ll be able to smile again then.

Don’t take it to heart, sweetie. Children can be deeply annoying at times: they’re such ingrates. They do it on purpose just to test you. You’re made of stronger stuff, I’m sure. You’ll need to be: this is just the beginning! X.

Thanks for your lovely comment. I think he was just tired when he told me. He had just scooted to the girls’ school and back up the hill to his all before 9am. He loved his cake!
